Cooking Matters Colorado

More than 16 million children are at risk of hunger in America. In Colorado, 1 in 5 children are at risk for hunger and malnutrition.

Share Our Strength’s Cooking Matters is a groundbreaking nutrition education program that helps families help themselves by teaching them how to prepare healthy low-cost meals.

Professional chefs and nutritionists volunteer their time and expertise to lead hands-on courses that instruct adults, teens, and kids living in low-income families, how to get the most nutrition out of a limited budget. Check out this video to see a glimpse into our courses:

In 2012, Cooking Matters Colorado coordinated 345 courses resulting in 4,136 course graduates. In addition to our courses we reached 1,426 pantry participants and 9,694 participants through various community outreach events.
